Rudolph Floyd Gilley
Mr. Rudolph Floyd Gilley, 87, of Piedmont, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2010 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gilley was born on January 13, 1923, the son of the late Floyd and Janie Rainey Gilley.
Mr. Gilley was a strong Christian and retired teacher in Centre and a principal of Greenwood schools. He was self-employed as a logger. He also taught several singing schools and enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening and spending time with his family and singing praises to his heavenly father.
Mr.Gilley was preceded in death by a brother, D. L. Gilley and granddaughter Misty Gilley.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Tommie Jewel Estes Gilley; a son, Aubrey (Ruth) Gilley; daughters, Janice Gilley, Donna Jennings (Brian) and Emily Wallace (Charles); grandchildren, Darren Allen, Phillip Gilley, Brandy Homesley, Daniel Miller and Matthew Jennings; great-grandchildren, Logan Whorton, Alyssia and Alexis Gilley, Cheyenne, Gage, Mackenzie, Macy and Maggie Homesley, Christopher, Makenzy, Sarah, and Michael Miller; step grandchildren, Lonny Campbell and Candy Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilley will be conducted this evening March 9, 2010, at 7 p.m. from the Heritage Chapel of Folsom Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Gnatville Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends 5 - 7 p.m. prior to the service.
